VACANCY: EXECUTIVE DEAN (5 YEAR FIXED-TERM POSITION)

Purpose Of The Position

As the executive leader and accountable manager, the appointee will be expected to transform and position the Faculty of Law as a unitary Faculty of superior academic excellence, with a firm commitment to social justice within a unitary NWU.

Minimum Requirements…

A PhD or equivalent in one of the Faculty’s disciplines
Membership of appropriate academic and professional networks
Relevant professional registration
Five (5) years’ senior management experience
Significant exposure to higher education
Financial management and budgeting experience
A distinguished record of teaching, scholarship and research excellence
A proven track record in developing and maintaining relationships with business, industry and professional bodies.

Other Competency Requirements

Top notch people and communication skills
Thorough knowledge of the higher education environment in South Africa
Welldeveloped ICT proficiency
Contract development/management and knowledge of student access/support issues, curriculum design and delivery
Skills in managing the research-innovation value chain
Managing across geographically dispersed campuses
