Job description

The International Student Advisor will work with international students for all of Berkeley’s Locations. Assists and advises international students on F-1 and J-1 visa benefits.

Advises new and continuing international students on registration, change of status, leave of absence, and other visa related benefits; facilitates procedural steps associated with their status.

Processes and maintains student records in SEVIS and other related systems.

Maintains up-to-date information on regulations, policies and practices (internal and external) pertaining to international students.

Organizes orientation programs, cross-cultural events, and informational workshops.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Experience with F-1 and J-1 student advising in higher education.

Excellent customer service and attention to detail.

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree, preferred.

Previous experience studying abroad and working with international students a plus as well as prior work experience in higher education or an ESL setting, preferred.
